The 14 segments of Karnataka that are holding elections today are experiencing heat wave-like conditions, with maximum temperatures in most districts hovering around 38 to 44 degrees Celsius, despite the state receiving intermittent rains in most of its districts.

Manoj Kumar Meena, the chief electoral officer, told PTI that they have taken into account reports of higher-than-normal temperatures in the north Karnataka region and have taken all the required precautions to make sure that voters are not discouraged from leaving their houses to cast their ballots.

He continued, “Some of the arrangements made keeping the harsh weather in mind are fans and drinking water in the waiting areas as well as ambulances on standby.”

The 14 segments that are holding elections today are experiencing heat wave-like conditions, with maximum temperatures in most districts ranging from 38 to 44 degrees Celsius, despite the fact that much of Karnataka has seen intermittent rainfall.

In order to make sure that voters are not discouraged from leaving their houses to cast their ballots, Chief Electoral Officer Manoj Kumar Meena told PTI that they have taken into account reports that the north Karnataka region is experiencing temperatures that are higher than normal.

“We made arrangements keeping the severe weather in mind, including fans and drinking water in the waiting areas and ambulances on standby,” he continued.

Chikkodi (39 degrees Celsius), Belgaum (38), Bagalkot (43), Bijapur (43), Gulbarga (43), Raichur (43.2), Bidar (41.5), Koppal (43.2), Bellary (41), Haveri (35.4), Uttara Kannada (37), Davangere (39.5), and Shimoga (39 degrees Celsius) are the maximum temperatures predicted for the 14 constituencies.

The Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC) has issued a red alert to five districts—Bagalkot, Belagavi, Dharwad, Haveri, and Koppal—until May 9, despite the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) having issued an orange advisory for the majority of the 14 districts.
