ZP observes consumer day on the theme ‘Healthy Food Rights’

Udupi: Zilla Panchayath in association with Food and Civil Supplies Department observed consumer day on the theme ‘Healthy Food Rights’ on March 15.

The Minister for Urban Development Vinay Kumar Sorake after inaugurating the programme said that political games should not misguide innocent people; priority should be given to the consumer’s rights. They are privileged to get healthy food for their family.

He added the democracy defined the idea of equality and equal rights. Public are always target for misconceptions. Creating awareness is important on ‘Consumer right’ -rights of the people to get qualitative products.

He further added that food right is another important right of consumers, which lack awareness in the society; we should concentrate on these aspects too.

Regarding Kasturi Rangam report, he said grass root level meetings will be held at Gram Sabhas, to collect opinion from the public. People are now misguided for political gains. They are ignorant over the positive aspects of the report. In the district around 32 villages are included in the recommendation, out of which 16 Gram Sabhas are held in 16 villages.
