Udupi Municipal Corporation bags the ‘Best CMC practice award’

Udupi: The City Municipal Corporation has bagged the best CMC practice award for its initiative “Improved financial and Energy efficiency in Water Supply”.

The award was given in a function organized by the Department of Urban Development, the Directorate of Municipal Administration (DMA) and City Managers’ Association, Karnataka on Friday March 13 at Vikasa Soudha, Bengaluru. The award carried a cash prize of Rupees One Lakhs.

The Vijayapura Town Municipal Council won the second best TMC (Maintenance of Record Room)   category while Bantwal Town Municipal council (Property Tax Collection through SAS by Bantwal) won third best TMC. The Vijayapura TMC was given cash prizes of Rs 75,000 and Bantwal TMC got Rs. 50,000.

 The Hubli-Dharawad Municipal Corporation won the first prize in City corporation category while Mangaluru City Corporation won second prize.  HDMC and Mangaluru City Corporation were given cash prizes of Rs One Lakhs and Rs. 75000 respectively.

State-run organizations such as the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation secured Best Practices Award for its initiative on implementation of Automated Electronic Driving Test System.

The Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation won the second prize for “Online recruitment System” in the Line Department category.  The BTP won third prize for BTRAC 2010 system.

 The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation, Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport and BTP were given cash prizes of Rs One Lakhs, Rs. 75,000 and Rs. 50, 000 respectively.

Vinay Kumar Sorake, Minister for Urban Development and Qamarul Islam, Minister for Municipal Administration, Dept of Public Enterprises, Minorities Welfare, Haj and Wakf, Govt. of Karnataka presented the awards.

Laxminarayana Commissioner BBMP and Manjula Director for Municipal Administration were also present.
