Udupi: The Udupi district police, Santosh Shetty (23) and his friend Nitesh Poojary (22) have been arrested on the charge of raping a 15-year-old in Udupi taluk on Tuesday.

As per information revealed by the police, the sexual assault took place on June 15 after noon. The minor was said to be in a relationship with Santosh for a couple of months. Nitesh, who came to know of this, took advantage of the situation and raped her.

A case had been registered under Section 376 of Indian Penal Code and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, the police said.
