Kundapur: An 18-year-old student pursuing II PUC is feared drowned at Kodi beach, near here, on Sunday, September 30.

The student has been identified as Manoj Poojary (18), son of Manjunath Poojary, a resident of Kodi.

It is said that Manoj was having a gala time, playing beach volleyball along with his friends when the ball fell into the sea and Manoj plunged to get the ball. Within seconds, a huge wave splashed, washing Manoj off his feet.

The locals and police launched a search operation for Manoj, but it yielded no results till Sunday late night. He was a student of Beary’s PU College, Koteshwar, near Kundapur.
