Mangaluru: A 20-year-old engineering student committed suicide by hanging at his PG room, located at Merlapadavu on Saturday, September 29.

The deceased student has been identified as Sharath Babu, son of Nijalingappa, a resident of Koramangala in Bengaluru. According to the police sources, Sharath Babu was a student of Srinivas Engineering College, Valachil and he was studying in the third semester of electronic and communication. He was staying at a PG accommodation of Philip of Merlapadavu, which is located adjacent to the college. After attending classes on Saturday, he returned to his room. But, he was found hanging at his room late night. The reason for his extreme step is yet to be known.

A case has been registered at Mangaluru Rural police station in this regard.
