Specially abled Wilma Pereira prepares for World Special Olympics

Shirva: A felicitation programme for Wilma Pereira, a student of Pamboor Manasa Rehabilitation and training centre, who will be participating in the World Special Olympics in America, was held here on Friday.

Udupi diocese Director Rev Fr Ferdinand Gonsalves, while speaking on the occasion said, “Wilma, because of her hard work and perseverance has achieved this success. She is a role model for all specially able children. She has proved that hard work always makes us successful”.

Special accessories to be used during Olympics were handed over to her on the occasion.

Belle Gram Panchayath President Rajani Hegde, Manasa president Henry Menezes, auditor Elroy Kiran Crasto, Udupi Catholic Sabha regional president William Machado, institution administrative officer Joseph Noronha, ex zilla panchayath president Remedia Dsouza were present. School principal Sr Telma Lewis welcomed the gathering and hostel in-charge Sr Vasanthi proposed the vote of thanks. Prema compered the programme.

Wilma’s father Lawrence Pereira from Permannur in Dakshina Kannada district, her mother Jacintha and brother and sister were present on the occasion.

Wilma who is in the Indian team to participate in the World Special Olympics Hand ball sport to be held in Los Angeles in America from July 21 to August 5 will leave from Chennai airport on July 20.
