New Delhi: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is reportedly framing guidelines for Indian pilots to take mandatory psychometric tests before being given permission to fly any aircraft.
psychometricAccording to reports, Indian pilots were previously taking these tests on a voluntary basis to certify their fitness to fly .
Now, according to reports, these tests are being made manadatory for all categories of pilots and aircraft to ensure flight safety and acceptable physical and mental behaviour by airline crew. However the final guidelines will take some more time to take off.
These guidelines are being taken to prevent incidents such as the recent one where a co-pilot attacked the captain of an Air India flight that was plying between Delhi and Jaipur in April this year. It led to the pilots being de-rostered.  It may also be related to the German Wings air crash earlier this year.
