
Udupi: Shreyas G Kotian, BA student of MGM College, Udupi bagged the first place at the National level Elocution Competition held in New Delhi on January 21 and 22.
On the occasion of the Republic Day of India and Constitution Day celebrations an elocution competition was organised on the topic ‘Patriotism and Nation Building’ in English at the Nehru Youth Centre at the taluk, district and state levels.
Kotian bagged the first place at the district level and represented the Udupi district at the state level. He then represented the state at the National level elocution completion at New Delhi and bagged the first place, which carries a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh and a certificate.
Kotian was felicitated by the Union Youth Empowerment and Sports Ministry Secretary Dr. Amarendra Kumar Dube IAS. During the occasion, the Nehru Youth Centre Vice Chairman Dinesh Pratap Singh, Nehru Youth Centre DG, Major General Dilawar Singh, Executive Director of Nehru Youth Centre Virendra Misra and the Union Youth Empowerment and Sports Ministry top officials were present.
Kotian is a first year BA student of MGM College here, a resident of Gundibail, and son of Ganesh Kotian and Sujatha Kotian. He is actively involved in various activities of the college and is also a member of the NSS unit of the college.
Kotian has been trained by the Nehru Youth Centre DyC and his college lecturers. The District Deputy Commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis appreciated his achievements and ordered a felicitation on the Republic Day in Udupi.
