Karkala : A 17 year old boy hanged himself here at college hostel on August 31.

The deceased is identified as Vasanthgouda(17), a resident of Chennarayapattana in Mandya. He was a student of Jnanabharathi Pre-university college in Ganetanagar Kukkundoor.

Police have recovered a suicide note at the spot.

ASP Annamalai speaking to reporters said that he was sad about poor performance in the studies and has therefore taken this extreme step.

A case has been registered at city police station.
