Udupi: Former CMC president and opposition member Dinakar Shetty Herga was arrested in an alleged assault case here on Monday June 15.
He was charged for assaulting two brothers Boniface D’Souza and Anthony D’Souza, residents of Parkala on Sunday night. Reports state that the two were admitted to KMC hospitals due to serious injury.
Police sources said that on June 14, a group of 19 members including CMC member attacked the D’Souza brothers, as there was dispute between them over a JCB owned by Boniface.
Police said as per the complaint registered by Peter D’Souza here, the group of men barged into their house and used weapons to assault them.
Police also added that a counter case was also registered against D’Souza brothers, as JCB driver had attacked Akshith Shetty with weapon and who was also admitted to the hospital.
Both cases are registered under Sections 143, 147, 148, 341, 324, 326 and 506 with Section 149 of Indian Penal Code. Arrested have also been charged with Section 307 (attempt to murder).
The case was registered at Manipal station and further investigation is on.
