Udupi: The mortal remains of Shiva’s Hazel Mathias, who was working as a nurse at Saudi Arabia will arrive at her native village on September 26.

Hazel’s body will reach Bengaluru by Gulf Airways on the night of September 25. From Bengaluru Airport the body will be brought to the native place by Ambulance, on September 26 and the funeral rites would be conducted at Our Lady of Health Church, Shirva on the same day.

As per the reliable sources, MLC Ivan D’Souza will receive the mortal remains at Bengaluru Airport. Udupi district in-charge Minister Dr Jayamala is expected to attend the funeral services as a representative of the state government, it is learnt.

As per the recommendations of Ivan D’Souza, NRI Forum Karnataka sanctioned a financial assistance of Rs one lac to the members of Hazel’s family.

Hazel had committed suicide around two months ago reportedly owing to sexual advances from a Saudi national. It is said that the accused has been in custody of the police, but it will be difficult to take stern action against him.
