Ujire :A group of people allegedly assaulted a youth when he along with his cousin, was waiting at a bus shelter in Ujire town on Wednesday.

According to the police, the victim, Mohammed Sabir, a resident of Banakal in Mudigere, had come with his fiancee, who hails from Karkala, to a private college seeking admission for the latter’s sister.

While they were waiting for the bus, a group of people approached them and began ‘questioning’ them. Though the duo tried to convince them, they did not care to listen and subsequently assaulted Sabir. The police have taken a few persons into custody.
