Udupi: An engineering student from Haryana, studying in Manipal Institute of Technology died under mysterious circumstances after he sustained burn injuries while having shower in the hostel bathroom, on Wednesday, March 16.

Neham Agarwal from Haryana is the deceased. He was a II year Chemical Engineering Student from Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT), Manipal.

Dr G K Prabhu Director, Manipal Institute of Technology in a statement said that the engineering student sustained severe burn injuries while having shower. Immediately the hostel staff and the students rushed him to the hospital. Later he was shifted to Kasturba Hospital.

However, he was declared dead on Thursday night. His parents were informed soon after the incident and had arrived to the hospital on March 17. The college authorities had also informed forensic team and the Manipal police who are investigating the case.

The exact cause for the incident will be known only after the post-mortem report is out, said the director.
