Bengaluru: An engineering student who suffered severe burns after her boyfriend set her house on fire in Srirampura, died on Thursday, March 17.

Meghana(22) had suffered more than 60 per cent burn injuries after her lover Deepak set fire to her house on March 11.

The Srirampura police inspector said that doctors at the St John’s hospital did their best to revive her but she did not respond to treatment and declared dead at 10.20 pm.

According to police sources the accused was madly in love with the victim and was forcing her to marry him immdiately. But girl’s parents wanted her to complete her studies first. Meghana too started to avoid him and stopped receiving his calls. Deepak who remained restless, poured petrol on her house when all the inmates were fast asleep. In the horrific incident, victim’s sister and parents too suffered injuries.

However, he was caught by the locals and beat him up before handed him over to the police.
