Karkala: Karkala is gearing up in full swing to give its best during Mahamastakabhisheka of Lord Bahubali, which will be inaugurated by Governor Vajubhai Rudabhai Vala on January 21.
Pilgrims were seen visiting the place on one side and the workers on the other, busy with last minute preparations. In the midst of all, the statue stands tall on the hilltop representing the ideology – nonviolence, renunciation and simplicity which encourages the present generation to follow these principles.

The hilltop is surrounded by the ancient ‘Chaturmukha Basadi, which is a temple with 4 doors. Ramasamudra Lake and Anekere Lake, two lakes give one of the best view from top.
While speaking to the media, Rajendra Prasad, Mahamastakabhisheka organising committee president, said that 3 lakh pilgrims from all over the country and abroad will witness this historic ritual.
He added that this time there will be 2 doors, one for entry and other for exit, which will be safe as well as help for smooth functioning.
A special stage has been constructed to entertain the pilgrims with various cultural programmes every day. There will be an exhibition with 356 stalls for display of mechanical, agricultural, decorative items. There is also an amusement park for children.
Schools have given holidays here in Karkala to facilitate accommodation for devotees.
The ‘Pura Meravanige’ (rally) has been arranged on January 24, 25 and 28.
Facilities
The Mahamastakabhisheka Committee will organize full-fledged transport system with 30 vehicles to serve the needy and aged pilgrims to take them to hilltop and bring them down to their parked vehicles.
On the hilltop 30 vehicles will be parked which will include police, fire and Mobile health care center for devotees. 3 meals will be served to all pilgrims.
5 different zones for parking have been arranged. as per the direction from DC, CCTV cameras too have been installed for security reason. As many as 15 LCD television sets are put up for the live telecast of the ritual so that no one will miss it.
2 BSNL and Air-tel Towers are put for fast net and call facility. Wi-Fi connections are also available
Cleanliness
Systematic facilities for hygiene and sanitation have been made.
Security
More than 400 police and 3000 Mahamsathakabhisheka Committee volunteers will work to provide best services to all.
