Udupi: A young woman from Delhi, was found homeless in the city and social workers Nithyananda Olakadu and Taranath Mesta Shiroor had provided her with temporary shelter along with the help of another social worker Vishu Shetty.
The Women’s Police Station succeeded in providing a safe haven for the woman at Sri Sai Sevashram in Manjeshwar after complying with legal formalities.
The woman, who identified herself as Rinku Sharma, claimed that she was kicked out of her family due to issues within the family. She then left to to Udupi with the intention of devoting her life to “God.” She left Delhi with no possessions and no money. As soon as she reached the Udupi Railway Station on January 31, someone directed her to the Sri Krishna Matt where she asked Pejawar Matt to help her. The matt juniors gave her food and informed Nithayanand Olakadu about Sharma.
Olakadu reached the matt along with his friend Taranath Mesta and met Sharma with some of the matt’s staff.
Olakadu and Mesta took her to the Women’s Police Station where Muktabai, a woman police officer, enquired about her details and helped the woman.
Sharma told the police that she wanted a roof over her head and that she had chosen the path of devotion to the divine. She said that she had been an ardent devotee of Lord Krishna. Sharma claimed to be the daughter of Sureet Singh and Lalmati Devi, who ran a beauty parlour in New Delhi. The social workers have sought details about Sharma from the people who know her hoping to inform her parents of her whereabouts.
