Mangaluru: A portrait of former prime minister Indira Gandhi, at the under construction Indira Canteen building at Surathkal was defaced by few miscreants late on February 2 night.

Reportedly, the miscreants used grease to smear the black and white portrait installed at the state government’s under construction Indira Canteen building. The Indira canteen is an ambitious project of the state Congress government and the former PM’s portraits are installed at all the canteens.

The incident came to light only on February 3 morning enraging several people.

The Suratkal police visited the spot and registered a case. Investigation is in progress.
