Udupi: The General Meeting of City Municipality Council at the CMC here on November 29, was chaotic as the ruling and opposition members broke into a squabble, after which opposition members staged a protest, which led to the session being postponed.

Opposition leader M R Pai alleged that the given account details of last year Udupi Utsav shows lots of discrepancies. Condemning the this, Pai demanded the balance sheet and the bank statement of the same.
CMC President, Yuvaraj initially adjourned the meeting for a short period, but the opposition did not allow the proceedings to continue and demanded clarification, which led to the session being postponed.
Meanwhile, speaking to the media Yuvaraj of Congress said former BJP MLA Naveen Bhandary snatched the agenda sheet from the commissioner, which is against protocol and rules, and started fighting during the meet.
He further added that there were many important issues on the agenda, which could have been discussed for the welfare of the society; instead fighting on an unnecessary issue is not logically acceptable, he stressed.
Commenting on the demands of the opposition, the commissioner Srikanth Rao said that the profit of the previous Udupi Utsav was used for the Beach Utsav and just Rs.24000 is pending now.
