Mangaluru: In India, 40% of the HIV affected population falls in the age group of 15 – 24 years. The youngsters of Fr. Mullers Medial College in the city, recognizing the threat of this deadly disease, decided to spread awareness on account of the forth coming “World Aids Day” on December 1, through a street play

On Saturday November 29, youngsters of Father Muller College performed a street play simultaneously in four prominent locations across the city. The locations were Father Muller campus, Jyothi circle, City centre and St Aloysius Campus.
This initiative aimed to decrease the gap between HIV, prevention and the ways it can be treated. It also focused on the lives of an HIV positive patient.
The street play – which took off through the formation of a flash mob, portrayed the life of a girl and the way she deals with the disease, the social approach towards her and the stigma about HIV in the society.
The play also shows that on learning the girl is HIV positive – the classroom, the interview hall, the hospital – every area she goes, becomes a living hell.
