Four engg students invent tree climbing machine

Karkala: Four innovative final year Mechanical engineering students of NMAMIT, Nitte University have impressed many by making an attempt to use their knowledge to help people. Understanding the problems faced by tree climbers, especially coconut tree and areca nut trees, in order to help them, these young students have invented a machine which can climb trees making the task a cake walk.
machanic engineeringThe machine is said to run using electricity and also can be run on batteries without any manpower. After fixing it to a coconut tree or areca nut tree, one can operate it using a remote control, it has been informed.

Under the guidance of Mechanical engineering department Professor Greinal Demello, students Dhanraj, Karthik J Achay, Kiran Kumar and Vishwas Kumar Mishra developed the unique machine.

The cost of the machine is Rs 20,000 and it weighs 12 kgs. It can also be used to remove coconut palms and chemical spray. It is one of the few projects that received recognition by the KSCST. It has won the ‘X-Pro project of the year’ prize-15 held at NITTE College.machanic engineering
