Udupi: The District Legal Services Authority Udupi, Karnataka State AIDS Prevention Society, Karnataka Health Foundation, and District Police together organized a one-day workshop on reduction of violence against marginalized women and gender sensitization programme at District Police Office on March 20.

The workshop was inaugurated by District and Sessions Judge, Shiv Shankar. B. Amarannavar. In his inaugural speech Amarannavar said that the workshops on gender sensitivity and prevention of Atrocities on Women a very crucial and an important subject.
We should create awareness on women right and every individual is bound to follow the social responsibility to reduce the violence against marginalized women and gender sensitization, this workshop will surely lead to the same direction, he added.
We will live in a discriminatory society when it comes to women, the atrocities and sexual exploitation are frequent due to this, focus should be on providing dignity to them, he noted.
Ashokananda, Director of the Department of Health Breeding Foundation also spoke on Prostitution and the social as well as physical evils the women in the particular section have to face.
District Police Commissioner. K. Annamalai, IPS were also present on the occasion.
