Dengue threat looms large over Karkala, teenager dies of fever

Karkala: The dengue toll in Karkala taluk has raised to two, with the death of 18-year-old Vinutha from Vamadapadau from Bantwal.

Vinutha used to live in her grand mother’s house at Mala-Mullur and due to high fever, she was admitted to TMA Pai Hospital in Karkala on May 31.

Since the fever did not come under control, she was forwarded to KMC Hospital Manipal on June 3 for advanced treatment. However, on June 3, Vinutha succumbed to fever.

On June 2, Trishala Jain (34) from Pucchabettu near Nalur had died of Dengue.

The officials of health department say that Dengue fever is rampant in Mala area and the cases of dengue is on the rise in the Taluk.
