CID team arrives in Manipal to start probe into Bhasker Shetty murder case

Udupi: The sensational Bhasker Shetty murder case has been handed over to Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and with this the CID team headed by Dr D C Rajappa arrived in Manipal on Thursday. District in-charge minister Pramod Madhwaraj had urged the State government to order a CID probe in to the case and as per sources, home minister Dr G Parameshwara obliged to the same.

Bhasker Shetty murder case: CID team may visit Udupi soon-1With this the probe will henceforth be completely in the CID’s purview and the Udupi District police and the Manipal Police will not hold investigations in to the case.

The case was being handled by ASP Sumana, prior to which the case was under Manipal Circle Inspector. Following allegations that Girish was siding with the accused, he was relief from the charge. While he is facing department probe, he has now been transferred from Manipal police station.

Bhasker Shetty, a Saudi based businessman went missing on July 28 from Udupi. Soon, his wife Rajeshwari and son Navaneeth were arrested by the police on charges of charring Shetty to death after collaborating with a young astrologer named Niranjan Bhat and then disposing the ashes in to rivulet in Nandalike.
