Udupi: Bhasker Shetty murder case refuses to see any kind of development and with this, the demand for bringing back ‘Singham of Udupi’ Annamalai back to Udupi is being heard.
Annamalai, IPS who was the SP of Udupi is presently posted in Chikkamagaluru. Known to be a straight forward and fearless officer, Annamalaia, popularly called ‘Anna’ among the locals walked his way into the hearts of the people of Udupi through his style of functioning.
The sensational Bhasker Shetty Murder case has shook the entire region and terming it as another 1995 Tandoor murder case that had taken place in Delhi where Susheel Sharma had killed and disposed his wife’s dead body in a tandoor or clay oven used to make rotis, Advocate Shantharam Shetty said that the accused seem to have planned the murder meticulously to the extent that they even timed it around Annamalai’s transfer.
Making use of the fact that an officer was deputed as SP in-charge, the killer trio took full advantage of the situation. He said that the biggest advantage for the accused is the weak FIR filed by the police in the case.
“If the police continue working the way it is working right now, there is no way that the family of Bhasker Shetty will be rendered justice,” he said adding that though the IPS cadre officers do not have much experience handling such cases, Annamalai was an IPS officer with difference who must be called to probe this ‘rarest of rare’ case which lies akin with Arushi, Indrani and Tandoor cases that had earlier jolted the country.
