Kasargod: Three men involved in sand mining plunged into a river fearing the cops. In the unfortunate incident one died while two others survived the bid on August 11. The deceased has been identified has Ravi aged 48, resident of Nedukonda in Nileshwar while the rescued ones are Preman and Narayan.
It is said that the cops were on routine round when they spotted the trio on boat ferrying sand towards the bank.
All three were involved in sand mining at Padankkad River. The moment three people jumped into the river, locals informed police and jointly they managed to rescue two people.
The fire force personnel managed to pull out the deceased Ravi’s body from the river which was later shifted to Periyaram medical college hospital for post mortem.
The reason why the trio jumped into the river fearing cops is not known, but cops on hunt ended up rescuing two with help from locals.
