Blood donation camp held on World Blood Donors Day

Udupi: On the occasion of World Blood Donors Day, a huge blood donation camp was organized at the Atal Bihari Vajapeeye Auditorium, Rajathadri here on June 16.

After the inauguration of the programmen, District Sessions Judge Shivashanker B Amarannavar said that donating blood is good for physical and mental health.

He added that public should realize the importance of blood donations. Any one healthy between 18 and 60 can donate blood. Men can donate once in three months and women once in four months.

Slogan for this year’s World Blood Donors Day campaign is “Thank you for saving my life”, Give freely, and give often. Blood donation matters”. The content of the slogan highlights the emergency need, he added.

Pramod Madhwaraj, MLA called upon the youth to come forward for the betterment of the society. He said awareness programmes should begin from the root level especially in schools and colleges because they are the future of our country.

The best contributors were felicitated on the occasion. Including the judge, Amarannavar 50 members donated blood on the occasion.

Under DHO, a team will be formed to create awareness among the villagers and begin a campaign in the district including local voluntary organisations and youth associations at the village level.
