Udupi : A bike rider met a tragic end in his attempt to overtake a bus near the Salmara Parika bus stand at Shankerpura on Friday July 11.

The deceased has been identified as Shashank (24), a resident of Arasikatte near Shankerpura. The mishap occurred at around 9.15 am when  Shashank was  over speeding in his Bajaj Pulsar bike  and tried to overtake the bus named ‘Lobo’ which was heading towards Udupi from Shirva. However, before he could overtake it, another  bus named ‘Golden’ which was  coming from the opposite direction, fatally knocked down Shashank.

It has been gathered that the deceased Shashank was a good volley ball player and the only son of Mahesh and Sumathi Poojari couple.

Shirva police have registered a case.
