Udupi: The CID custody of Niranjan Bhat, one of the prime accused in the sensational Bhasker Shetty murder case has been extended till September 19 by the Court of the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate.
The court along with extending the CID custody till Monday, also accepted the plea of the Counsel for Bhat that he should be provided with medical facilities in the custody as Bhat is a diabetic.
The other two accused, Niranjan Bhat’s father Srinivas Bhat and driver Raghavendra who were arrested for destroying evidence, moved a bail application at the District and Sessions Court on Saturday. The court accepted the plea of the public prosecutor who sought time to file objections till September 24.
It may recalled that, non-resident entrepreneur and owner of Hotel Durga International, Bhasker Shetty went missing on July 28 from Udupi. His mother Gulabi Shetty had lodged a missing complaint with the Manipal police on July 29. Soon, Bhasker’s wife Rajeshwari and son Navaneeth were arrested by the police on charges of charring Shetty to death after collaborating with Niranjan Bhat.
