Udupi: The Udupi District Muslim Okkuta has commended the swift arrest of the perpetrators in the Nejar massacre, expressing gratitude to the Udupi Police, especially the Superintendent of Police, in an official statement released after an emergency meeting. While acknowledging the efficient police operation, the organization strongly criticized certain media outlets and websites for disseminating unfounded speculations about the victims’ family members.

The statement emphasized the necessity of a thorough police investigation to ascertain the true motives behind the tragic incident. The Udupi District Muslim Okkuta urged the media to exercise responsible reporting and refrain from spreading rumors, underscoring the importance of patience and cooperation until the investigation concludes.

Terming the massacre as the most heinous in Udupi’s history, the organization called for a comprehensive inquiry and demanded the accused, as well as any accomplices, be tried and punished to the fullest extent of the law. Furthermore, they appealed to the government to appoint a special public prosecutor to assist in the investigation.
