Udupi: An auto-driver Maxim Victor Menezes and his wife Vanajakshi  protested in front of the SP office on Thursday October 16, alleging injustice.

According to the couple, a group of five miscreants hired Maxim’s auto, with a plan to assault a person. It is leant that they were appointed by Shivanand a resident of Indira Nagar.

However, learning of the assault, Maxim told the group that as per motor vehicle rules, only three people are permitted to travel in a rickshaw, and accordingly he wouldn’t  be able to take them.

His denial led to an argument that soon turned into a fight. The group battered Maxim, robbed all his belonging and fled.

Maxim was later admitted to the government hospital.  Police seized the Auto rickshaw.

Maxim  registered a complaint at Udupi Town Police Station.  However the police said, that Shivanand had also  lodged a complaint of  attempt to murder against Maxim. Police managed to put to an end to this issue through a compromise.

On the same day an argument took place between both the parties. The couple claims that case filed by Shivanand is baseless and demanded the return of the seized auto-rickshaw which was their only source of income.

Protesting in front of the SP office, Maxim and his wife urged the DC to respond urgently to their demands.
