Karkala: An alcoholic who brought home a bottle hidden inside his vest, had a near escape from death when the bottle broke and gored his stomach, after he had a fall in an inebriated state.
The alcoholic is Vijaya (57), resident of Manchakal here.

Vijaya has been living in his wife’s house and as usual every evening he used to return home in an inebriated state.

However, on Wednesday, it is said that he had come home with a bottle hidden in his vest.

At the doorstep of the house, he toppled and fell on his stomach, due to which the bottle broke injuring his stomach.

Since there was nobody at home when the incident occurred, he was rushed to the hospital several hours later.

He has been admitted to a local government hospital and is said to be out of danger.
