Udupi: The Adani group, on Thursday February 4, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Karnataka government to setup power generation units here even as the local environmentalists and DistrictiIn-Charge Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake have been openly propagating that the Adani Group has clearly violated environmental protection and human rights norms.

The MoU was signed on the ultimate day of the Invest Karnataka meet in Bengaluru. In lieu of this, Adani Group has secured permission to set up two power generation units of 800 MW with an investment of Rs 11,500 crore at Yellur.
Meanwhile, the district unit of the BJP has slammed Sorake for his ‘double standards’. It has questioned as to how the project could get a nod without the District in-Charge Minister’s consent, alleging Sorake of secretly giving green signal for the project and misleading the public on the outset.
