Udupi: Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) Udupi unit staged a protest near the Court Road Circle against, the failure of the State government to properly allocate the Common Entrance Test (CET) seats.

Secretary of the city unit of the ABVP, Abhishek Rao addressing the protestors said that it was the responsibility of the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) to conduct proper counseling and distribution of CET seats under government quota.
He added that the counseling for CET seats was not being done in the proper manner. This would affect the chances of several poor students who wanted to join the professional courses, he said.
Some private colleges were charging an excess fee from students who had joined under government quota. They demanded more importance be given to B.Sc (Agriculture) and B.Sc (Veterinary Science) courses in the State.
A memorandum was submitted at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office.
