ZP/TP polls: 69.16 per cent voters cast their right in DK

Mangaluru: As many as 7,34,575 out of 10,62,128 voters cast their votes in the Zilla and Taluk Panchayat polls that were held yesterday, Dakshina Kannada DC AB Ibrahim said. The total poll per cent in the district stands at 69.16.

As many as 3,62,254 male and 3,72,321 female voters voted their rights.

The highest turnout of voters in the district was registered in Bantwal at 71.69 per cent while Mangaluru taluk registered the lowest voting at 65.54 per cent. As many as 66.73 per cent voters cast their voters in Belthangady, 71.47 per cent in Puttur and 74.40 per cent in Sullia.

Counting on February 23
Addressing a press meet on Sunday, February 21, DC Ibrahim said that the votes will be counted constituency wise on Tuesday, February 23. The counting process will begin at 8 am in Mahatma Gandhi Centenary School, Bondel in Mangaluru; Infant Juses English.kannada Medium School, Modankapu in Bantwal; SDM PU College in Ujire, Belthangady; Vivekananda English Medium School, Tenkila in Puttur and Nehru Memorial College in Sullia.

The results are expected to be announced by 1 pm.
