Mangalore: Dakshina Kannada zilla panchayat CEO Tulasi Maddineni paid a visit to ISKON mid-day hot meals kitchen facility located nearby Urwa Market, here on Tuesday July 30.







At the backdrop of a dead rat found on sambar at the mid-day meals supplied to state-run High School, V block, Krishnapura, Suratkal, near here a few days ago, Tulasi visited Iskon – Akshaya Patra, kitchen facility that delivers mid-day meals to different state-run schools across the city, and gathered the information from the local chief Nandanacharya Das. Tulasi urged the in-charge of kitchen facility in order to take all the precautions throughout the different process of cooking and delivery at end point, urged Tulasi.
We have no idea how the dead rat was found in sambar, because ISKON has modern kitchen facility and the food is being prepared with utmost cleanliness and hygiene. The rice and vegetables are boiled in temperatures of 100 degree Celsius. The rat would have been dissolved in that situation. We check the sambar first at our facility before delivery and rat was not detected at that time, besides we deliver the food in our own vehicles. We routinely hold quality checks, said ISKON Akshaya Patra chief of location Nandanacharya Das.
