Bantwal :  An official of the check post at Ukkuda in Bantwal  had to face embarrassment after he was caught on camera of a  videographer and journalist of a media house  while he was accepting bribe from a lorry driver.

The video footage showed  the  officer instructing another official to open the gate to a truck and collect money from the driver. But, no sooner the driver realized that  he has been caught on camera, he approached the scribe and began questioning him. Soon, the Vittal police  arrived at the scene but the official,  on realizing that he was caught on camera of a media man was seen requesting him to settle the case through talks.

 There has been a complaint since long that officials at the check post were allowing trucks transporting goods unauthorisedly after  collecting bribe. Even huge 22 tyre trucks though prohibited are allowed to pass through the check post.

A senior forest officer however says there has been no complaint of any illegal activities, but promised to  investigate into the  case of the check post official accepting bribe.
