Mangaluru: Former Town Muncipal President and local BJP unit president Bhagwan Das and his friend was threatened with machetes by bike borne youths near Karnataka Bank at Thokkottu on June 26, 2016.

Bhagwan Das (40) and his friend Santhosh (40) were standing near the Thokkuttu branch of Karnataka Bank in the afternoon when three persons in bikes threatened the duo. It is said that the youths asked their accomplices to rush immediately with machetes.

Foreseeing the danger, the BJP leader called the police as well as alerted people nearby. As soon as people started gathering, the youth started fleeing the spot. People enraged by their act, started pelting stones on them. It is said that one of the youth is injured in stone pelting.

Reason for the attack

Sources said that the youth were having food in one of the canteens located in the by-lane which was noticed by Bhagwan Das and Santhosh, which infuriated the youth as Ramzan is in progress. To settle scores, the youth have reportedly attacked the duo.

 A complaint has been registered at the Ullal police station.
