Bantwal : In an incident reported from Thoranakatte in Punacha village on January 21, Tuesday night, a youth who was found riding a bike with a girl of another community, was thrashed by locals and handed over to the police.

According to sources, the young man who was an electrician in Mangalapadavu near Vittal, was  heading towards the Vittal fair  along with a  young woman from Punacha in  his bike. Locals who grew suspicious, intercepted the bike near Thoranakatte. When it came to light that they belonged to different communities, the youth was reportedly given a good thrashing, while the girl was sent home after a warning.

Several people gathered at the place on hearing about the news. The youth has been handed over to the Vittal police who are investigating the case.
