Mangaluru: A youth from Sullia was reportedly beaten black and blue by miscreants from Hindutva organizations as they suspected that he along with his family got converted to Islam.

Sathish Acharya has been identified as the victim in the incident which took place at Mandekolu. It is gathered that some local politicians were about to visit his house on Thursday evening. Sathish, who wanted to avoid meeting the politician, tried fleeing in his vehicle.

Sathish’s vehicle was chased by activists of Hindu organizations and was intercepted on Murur Bridge. It is said that one Karunakar attacked Sathish. He was then hospitalized to KVG Hospital in the town.

It is said that police intervened and took the matter under control. The issue is now settled without further dispute.
