Moodbidri: “Though agriculture was the back bone of the country, it is not a profitable venture. If farmers make use of modern technology in farming, then farming can become profitable even for a small holding.” said Agriculture University Vice-Chancellor Dr K Narayana Gowda, at ‘Krishi Siri’ held as a part of Krishi Mela at Alva’s Vishwa Nudisiri Virasat organised by the Alva’s Education Trust and SKDRDP, here at Moodbidri on Friday December 20.

He further said that the farmers in the country must constitute producers society to decrease production cost and to overcome the problems of shortage of labourers.

In his presidential address, Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari D Veerendra Heggade said that farmers are moving away from agriculture. “Farmers should have patience to achieve success in farming. Lack of marketing facilities and shortage of labourers  though continue to  affect the farming sector, it is a fact that very few number of youth take up farming or technologies related to it.”
