Mangaluru: A 22-year-old young man drowned at an open well located at Krishnapur, Naithangadi near Surathkal on Saturday, June 13.

The deceased has been identified as Santhosh Devadiga (22), a resident of Surathkal. According to the sources, the deceased Santhosh Devadiga had been to an open well in Krishnapur along with his friends to swim. When they were enjoying in water, Santhosh drowned all of a sudden. Though his friends raised alarm and screamed for help, the locals who arrived at the spot could not rescue him.

Santhosh was a diploma student in a city-based college. A case has been registered at the Surathkal police station in this regard and the investigation is on.
