Mangalore : A young  man was fatally run over by a car at Pavanje in Mulki police station limits during the wee hours of April 1, Tuesday. The deceased is Avinash (21), who worked as a  driver  in a cashew factory.

However, the case has taken a new twist with Avinash’s father alleging that his son did not die in an accident but that he was deliberately run over and killed.

Sources said the girl with whom Avinash was having an affair since several years,  had distanced herself from him  since the past couple of months  much to Avinash’s despair.

It has been gathered that on March 31, Monday, Avinash had  been to the girl’s office and picked up a quarrel with her demanding the reason for ignoring him. However, someone in the office informed the police who arrested Avinash. He was out on bail later with the help of his friends.

But, a dejected Avinash waited at Pavanje bridge the whole night  for the girl who would pass that way on her way home after her night shift. According to sources, the girl’s car driven by her driver,  knocked him down.

It is learnt, the police have taken the girl’s father for interrogation. Avinash’s father has claimed that the girl’s father was opposed to their affair.

Mulki police are investigating the case.
