Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada Youth Congress Committee organised a protest against the BJP-led union government, in front of State Bank here demanding waiver of farmers’ loans from nationalised banks on July 6.

Youth Congress Committee President Mithun Rai alleged that the BJP-led Centre had given several assurances to the people prior to the elections but had failed to fulfil the them. Congress government in the state had waived off the farmers’ under its purview but union government failed to do its part, he cited. He warned the Centre of intensifying protests in the coming days if it failed to take immediate action.

He also alleged that to favour the investors, BJP was taking the lands of the poor farmers.

Youth Congress Committee Mangaluru South Block President Meril Rego, Youth Congress Committee Mangaluru North Block’s Saleem, Ramanada Poojary, Suhail Kandadak and others were present.
