Mangalore: At a government school near Dr Ambedkar Circle the mid-day meals were tainted with were worms on Friday November 29.
The mid-day meal that is prepared and supplied under Akshaya Patra scheme by Iskcon, had worms hovering in a plate of rice.
Under the scheme the food was served to the students, at government girls’ high school when a girl spotted a worm in her plate of rice and brought it to the notice of a teacher.
The teacher then brought the situation to light, and intensified the matter claiming that worms were found in mid-day meal at the school even on an earlier occasion.
She agitated and said, “We have informed Iskcon about this. The worm might have been in the rice.”
After which the officials from Iskcon arrived at the school and assured that measures will be taken to ensure better hygiene and cleanliness. As the worm was big, they assumed that it might have been in some vegetables.
