Work for welfare of all, Bishop exhorts youth

Moodbidri : There will be peace and happiness all over when every individual strives for the overall development of the society irrespective of caste and creed, said Mangalore Bishop Rev. Dr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza.

He was   presiding over the inaugural function of Parjal 2014, a cultural  festival of  the youth of Mangalore Diocese held at Moodbidri Swarna Mandir on Sunday May 25 under the aegis of the Moodbidri unit of the Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM).

The Bishop further exhorted ICYM members to strengthen the organisation of youth, engage in social service and to spread the message of Jesus.

‘Gulob’ the annual issue  of ICYM was released and the ICYM website launched on the occasion.

Eliza Menezes, Moodbidri TMC Vice President, Anish D’Souza, Member of Beluvai Gram Panchayat, Andrew D’Souza, Director of MCC Bank, Moodbidri, Vinitha Maria D’Souza,  first rank holder in MSc of Mangalore University and J Monis, Director of MCS Bank were felicitated on the occasion.

A wheel chair was donated to  physically challenged Santosh of Kana in Beluvai. A scholarship of Rs 5000 each was distributed to five students.

Rev. Fr. Austin Peter Peres, Parish Priest of Corpus Christi Church of Moodbidri, Rev. Fr Ronald D’Souza, Director of Mangalore ICYM and Rev. Fr Assissi Rebello, Director of Moodbidri unit blessed the occasion.

Amarnath Shetty, former minster. Stephen Mendes, President of Divine World,  Mangalore, Ashwin J Pereira of Gantalkatte ICYM Arun Mendes and Mohammad Ali, entrepreneurs were present as chief guests.

Jude Colaco, President of ICYM welcomed the gathering. Rayan D’Sozua, Secretary presented the report. Rajesh Vamadapadavu compered the programme.

As part of cultural events, there was a comedy programme by Kaup Prashamsa team, the winner of  Bale Telipale contest. Humour notes by Harish Acharya and   unique dance performance by Exclusive Team of Bangalore.
