Sullia:  A woman and her paramour have been arrested for allegedly shooting dead the husband of the former who had opposed their illicit affair. The case has been reported from Kotaje in Yedamangala near Subrahmanya.

The arrested are Ratnavathi and Sunder, her paramour. The man who was shot dead by the two is Hariyappa Gowda (46). The Ratnavathi and Hariyappa Gowda had three children including a four year old girl. But Ratnavathi reportedly had an affair with Sunder who too was a married man and had two children.  When Hariyappa continued to oppose their affair, the two decided to eliminate him.

As per the plan,   Sunder saw to it that Hariyappa consumed alcohol and then took him for hunting where he shot him dead using a country gun. The body was then thrown into Kumaradhara river. Ratnavathi had then concealed the gun used to kill her husband in the cattle shed.

Ratnavathi had then registered a complaint with the Subrahmanya police stating that her husband was missing. However, Hariappa Gowda’s brother Chidanand and his wife who suspected foul play  intimated the police who took Ratnavathi and Sunder to custody. Interrogations of the two revealed the facts.

The two were produced before the magistrate and remanded to judicial custody. Police could also get hold of a fake death certificate which the two had got ready stating that Hariyappa Gowda had committed suicide unable to clear debt.

Sullia and Subrahmanya police jointly investigated the case.
