Mangaluru: Adding to the list of deaths due to alleged medical negligence in the city, a woman died post-delivery here at Somayaji hopsital on Sunday.
Geetha Sunil Gatti(28), wife of Sunil Gatti, a resident of Vogga in Bantwal is the deceased.
Geetha was admitted to Somayaji hopsital two days ago after she developed pain. At around 1pm on Sunday, February 21, the pain increased and she was taken into the delivery room it is reported.
The doctors had told the family that the baby has turned and there is excessive bleeding. They would walk in and around in a hurry but weren’t revealing anything else, according to the family.
Finally, a relative requested the doctor to tell them what was happening and he asked them to go inside and see the woman. She was seen in a pool of blood due to excessive bleeding.
At around 5pm, the staff asked the family to arrange for blood and later asked that she be shifted to a hospital in Mangaluru.
The panic sticken family rushed her to the hopsital in an ambulance. The staff had reportedly not taken any precautions while shifting her.
When they reached BC Road the bleeding increased. She was taken to Ladygoshen Hospital but there they were asked to shift her to Wenlock due to scarcity of beds in the ICU.
Even though Wenlock hospital staff arranged for blood on time, it was too late as Geetha had already breathed her last.
She is survived by husband and three daughters.
