Mangaluru: A woman belonging to Belthangady has officially lodged a complaint of verbal abuse and sexual assault on her and other women in her house against Belthangady SI Sandesh with the ASP on Monday, December 28.

Jennifer Saldanha, a resident of Savanalu in Belthangady, told media here on Tuesday, that Belthangady SI Sandesh came to her house yesterday to arrest her husband Walter Kiran Saldanha (38) in connection with a case. However, she said that the police did not produce the arrest warrant.

On being questioned about the same, the SI is said to have verbally and physically assaulted her.

Jennifer said that SI Sandesh was drunk and when a relative, a nun, Sr Vinny, tried to intervene, Sandesh alleged that nuns have illicit relationship with priests and included Sr Vinny in the same group before he tore the nun’s outfits.

Background of Walter’s arrest:

According to Jennifer, her husband Walter works in Israel. When Anil, a painter who had come to Walter’s house for painting, he requested him to land the formers wife a job in Israel. Walter told him that he had bagged the job through an agent and passed the agent’s number.

Anil’s wife managed to secure a job in Israel through that agent. However, she cut connections with Anil later. Fumed with this, Anil is said to have held Walter responsible for his wife’s act.

Jennifer said that Anil has strong contacts with the local police which is the reason for all the untoward incident that took place yesterday.

However, a source revealed that a case under IPC Section 420 (fraud) stands registered against Walter. He is accused to have conned a person of Rs 5.5 lakh on the pretext of securing a visa.

SI Sandesh had gone to Walter’s house on Sunday December 28, to arrest him in connection to the same case, according to the source.

However, Jennifer and family refuted the charges and said that Walter has been framed by Anil and the police.
