Bantwal : A man from Bantwal who was arrested in Delhi airport recently in connection with the suicide of his wife who jumped into the Netravathi river along with her two kids, has been brought to Bantwal by the local police.
The accused is Anwar Sadiq of B Mooda village. His wife Mumtaz (28) along with her kids Khatija Naif(5) and Fathima Naison (8) had jumped into the river from the railway bridge at Kallaup on June 19 allegedly due to harassment by her husband. The Ullal police who had lodged a complaint, had later shifted the case to Bantwal station.
Mumtaz’s father in his complaint had alleged that Sadiq used to constantly harass Mumtaz both mentally and physically and used to ask them to die saying he did not need them. It is said Anwar who worked in Saudi Arabia was arrested as he arrived at the India Gandhi International Airport on December 18.
He was produced before the Bantwal court on December 27, Friday evening and remanded to judicial custody for 15 days.
